Whisky bar
Step into one of Sweden’s most distinctive whisky bars at Brygghuset Krog. With more than 4,100 bottles, a unique coastal setting and stories rooted in Fiskebäckskil, this is more than a whisky collection – it is an experience shaped by history, passion and the sea.
Stories from our whisky bar
Our first expansion of the restaurant took place in 2007, when we created a whisky bar with the right atmosphere and space for a growing collection. As with most things we do, when we build something new, we look to the past – bringing stories and traditions with us into the future.
Stories that live on
The demolition worker Joel Pålsson met Reine Patriksson when he was just 14 years old – and left a lasting impression.
“I have only good memories of Joel. I worked at Sturebaren in Fiskebäckskil for five summers from the age of 14, and that’s where I got to know many of the local characters. Joel was one of them.”
When the bar was built, it was named after him. Partly because we inherited his old telephone number, 0523-222 22, and partly because we received a few personal items from him.
Joel had a small allotment on Skaftö where there was an old outdoor toilet. He used it to store beer – and among locals, it became known as Joel’s Bar.
A growing whisky bar
In 2016, the bar was expanded once again. Handmade whisky cabinets now cover the walls, complemented by textiles, rugs and carefully selected furniture to enhance the warm and inviting atmosphere of the whisky bar at Brygghuset Krog.
Whisky tastings
Every autumn and spring, we host 3–4 whisky tastings, which are announced on our Facebook page and here on our website. Group bookings can also be arranged throughout the year, on most days of the week, except during peak season in summer and major holidays. The minimum number of participants is 8 for whisky tastings and whisky dinners.
There are many different themes to build a tasting around, and we are happy to accommodate specific requests. A whisky tasting typically lasts between 2–3 hours, depending on the format.
(Please note: whisky tastings are not available during peak summer season.)
